I have been in business for over 32 years as a psychotherapist in private practice.

About Me

My practice is diverse and inclusive and is based on the theory that our natural state is joy and that the effects of oppression and abuse, including all sources of cultural and familial trauma, poor nutrition, genetic predisposition to mental illness, and SUD including eating disorders, present obstacles which can be mitigated with work and support.

My passion is supporting clients in their efforts to reach greater levels of satisfaction and success, and to assist them in resolving current or past trauma. I believe everyone has value, wisdom, and strength and can benefit from therapy during times of stress or periods of reflection and growth and I actively work to reduce the barriers and stigma associated with therapy.

I have been in business for over 32 years as a psychotherapist in private practice. I am licensed as an LCSW-C (Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical) and am a Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) both in Maryland (lic #09142) and in Florida as a Telehealth (TLHT) Clinical Social Worker #TPSW4565; http://www.flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/.

I have a certificate in Women’s Studies and a Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) in Family Studies from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work (Magna Cum Laude) with a specialization in Mental Health. I also hold a designation as a Certified Integrated Mental Health Professional and am trained by ACISTE (American Center for the Integration of Spiritually Transformative Experiences) in providing counseling to those who have had Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs) and Near Death Experiences (NDEs).

My approach

I use modalities tailored to the individual client/family which include psychodynamic therapy, DBT and CBT skills, trauma-focused therapy, SUD-focused counseling, ACT and adjustment therapy, coaching, nutritional & dietary guidance, fertility/pregnancy/post-partum/lactation/parenting support, bibliotherapy, feminist theory, mindfulness and meditation skills, and others. This means that I may suggest more than one approach or may incorporate more than one modality at a time; this is part of the process we will discover in our work together. I strive to be flexible in scheduling in recognition of the many demands individuals and families face in today’s world.
